Hoss spends his two-month vacation helping a black family get their farm in shape, and dealing with racism in the neighboring town.
Trivia: This was veteran actor Ossie Davis’ only appearance in the series. He was a recipient of the Kennedy Center Honors in 2004, along with Elton John, Joan Sutherland, John Williams, Warren Beatty and wife Ruby Dee. Davis was a featured speaker at the funeral of both Martin Luther King and Malcolm X.
This was Michael Landon’s favorite episode.
