How good you posted this little piece here again. It’s very believable that Adam thought right that before Joe showed up.

Author’s Response:

Sibylle, I guess you could say that we are happy the logical Adam reasserted himself before he did something we’d all regret.  I’m happy you approved.

A dressage rider who's a cowgirl at heart. Though I wasn't old enough during the heyday of Westerns on TV, with the introduction of cable and satellite services in the 1980's, I fell in love with Bonanza, Lancer, The Big Valley, The Rifleman, and The Wild, Wild West, among others. Through syndication and fanfiction; our heroes will live on forever. I hope you enjoy reading the stories I've written, and look forward to reading your comments.

  1. I just found Bonanza Brand during the Pandemic
and I am enjoying every story.

You did great job of making such a more feasible ending than the one showed in the episode.

I believe if the Bonanza Brand writers we’re writing the scripts Pernell would not have left.

    1. Sierras,

Thank you so much for reading ‘Setting the Course’. And I wish that your second sentiment held true throughout the series.

    1. QF – I’m glad this version struck the right tone with you. I too was never really happy with the way the ending occurred. Thank you for reading and for leaving a comment.

  3. Perfect! Adam usually covers up his true worry and feelings behind some endearing smart alecky statement(like in the ”Dime’s Worth of Glory” episode when he tells the outlaw Pickard that the reason he is staying in jail is because he wanted to save on a hotel bill…OH, right!) but those of us who know him better realize that he is just trying to appear strong for his family and he loves them, there is NO doubt about that!

    1. Miss Kitty, thank you for reading and for leaving a comment. And I must agree, those who know him, realize that he would do anything for his family, because they are family.
