As you are reading, please keep in mind that I’m not a gifted poet. These are just snippets from my brain that I felt would like to be heard! 😉

~~School-boy Joe~~

There once was School-boy Joe

He was really the one to know

School-boy Joe was liked by all the girls

For his eyes shined like polished pearls

He knew how to keep secrets “on the low”

And without Pa knowing, from school he would go

School-boy Joe had the best hair because of his curls

This, also, helped him draw in the girls

~~Our Joe~~

He’s one to have his heart on his sleeve

From a fight he will never leave

Who is he?

It’s Our Joe

Not that big, but not puny at all

Never to crack when pushed up against a wall

Who is he?

It’s Our Joe

His curly hair and flashing, green eyes

Are hard to leave when time to say your goodbyes

No wonder we love him; it’s Our Joe.

~~Shirtless Joe~~*

This day was a day hotter than most

Ev’ryone wished they lived on the coast

Except for the fair maidens of Virginia City

They all hoped for a glimpse of Shirtless Joe

And to see him they all knew where to go

To the largest ranch around; The Ponderosa

All of the young ladies flocked there

Where Shirtless Joe worked with nary a care

He took a brake to have a short swim

Soon, the women crept up to the fence

Of his shirtless-ness they hoped to catch a glimpse

But to their surprise, all they did find

was an old man taking a bath

For Shirtless Joe had done the math

and decided to work on chopping the wood

For he’d known the number of maidens

so he sent the old man there bathin’!

Then, he worked shirtless-ly in peace.

~~Prince Joe Cartwright~~*

There once was a princess so fair

with luscious locks of golden, blond hair

Then, when out on the street

guess whom did she meet

But no other than Prince Joe Cartwright

the one whose pants were extra tight

He gave her a kiss

that no one did miss

and made all the dear women near swoon

under the light of the bright, full moon

He bent down on one knee

and asked, “Will you marry me, dear princess with golden, blond hair?”

Then, she did what no one would dare

She slapped Prince Joe Cartwright

then said for everyone to know,

”I will not marry such rubbishy as thee!

For you smell of horse and cattle pee!”

Then, she left without any other words

Ev’ryone was silent, save for the birds

Prince Joe stood there, for all he could do was stare

at the retreating back of the princess with golden, blonde hair.

~~In Loving Memory of Joe Cartwright/Michael Landon~~**

There was a man both fictional and real

If we were down, our hearts he would heal

On TV he was Joe Cartwright

and we had looked for episodes in which his pants were worn tight

In real-life he was Michael Landon

None of our hearts would he abandon

When either went through pain

none of us were to gain

Both of them we loved more than a might

In loving memory: Joe Cartwright

We are sad, but we will not weep, for his life is done

In loving memory: Michael Landon

~The End~

*in these poems I started to run out of words to rhyme with. Sorry!

**Sorry this one’s so sad, but I was having a rough day.

    1. That one took me a long time to write because it couldn’t quit laughing at it! I’m glad it made you laugh too.

  1. I love these poems A-P! The Prince Joe Cartwright one made me laugh. I understand the rough day thing, whatever my emotion is I just want to write about it sometimes.

    1. Thank you! I’m glad you liked it! Writing about my feelings always helps me cope with them.

There is a girl at school I knew that killed her self and that inspired me to write my story “Lies”. It’s about Joe trying to hang himself after Amy Bishop’s death. Just writing that helped me get over my friend’s death.

  2. These were all fun to read. Each one captured a different aspect of Joe. The last one was poignant and brought actor and character together.
