Please note, that even though the Library and the Forums share the same home page, each site requires a separate registration; the good news is the same user name and password may be used for both.

Any writer wishing to receive author status must read and abide by the Library Guidelines, and submit their first story to the Librarians for approval at the following email:

bonanzabrandlibrary@gmail.com

Brand encourages Authors to work with a Bonanza Brand approved Beta reader to help ensure their story meets the standards of the Bonanza Brand Library.  The Librarians may return the story for further editing, when warranted.  Our wish is to support a high-quality library where those who love Bonanza can enjoy a wide-variety of stories. After approving a story, the Librarians will contact the Brandsters to confer author status.

NOTE: Bonanza Brand will not accept any plagiarized works in their Library or in any literary exercises contained on their website.  If a work is found to be plagiarized it will be removed as will any and all other works by the offending writer found in all parts of our website (Library and Discussion Forums).

1: Stories must be submitted in the proper category. Stories are allowed to be posted in multiple categories.

2: Titles and summaries must be appropriate for general audiences. No exceptions. “Please read”, “Untitled”, etc. are not acceptable titles or summaries and will result in the deletion of the story.

3: Correct grammar and spelling are expected of all stories submitted to this site. The site administrators reserve the right to request corrections in submissions with a multitude of grammar and/or spelling errors. If such a request is ignored, the story will be deleted.

4: All stories must be rated correctly and have the appropriate warnings. The ratings are: K (suitable for over 5s), K+ (suitable for over 9s), T (suitable for 13 and over) or MA (must be over 18). If your story is MA Rated please make sure that there is a warning to advise readers. You can use the warning found on the home page of the library.

All adult rated stories are expected to have warnings. After all, they wouldn’t have that rating if there wasn’t something to be warned about! The site administrators recognize that there is an audience for these stories, but please respect those who do not wish to read them by labeling them appropriately. Only Bonanza adult rated stories are permitted in this Library – others will be deleted.

Please note: We do NOT accept stories containing slash. Stories containing adults having sex with minors are also forbidden.

5: Only jpg (jpeg) and png images can be uploaded to the media library. Even though the system indicates 64MB, the Administrators recommend any photos be 1MB or less, otherwise they will be deleted. This is necessary in order to conserve the amount of disk space our Library uses on the server.

6: Any story posted in the Library must meet a 500-word minimum, excluding title, summary, rating, word count, author notes, disclaimers, etc. Stories with 500 – 999 words should be included in the Short Stories category. Submissions in the Poetry category are exempt.

7: All stories posted must be complete – we welcome works in progress (aka WIP) in the the The Reading Room forum on the Bonanza Brand Discussion Forum (Virginia City Literary Society). Any incomplete work found in the Library will be deleted.

8: Authors are permitted to post only 1 new story per week, with the caveat that only one story per author is allowed on the front page at any time.  If more than one story is posted to the front page, the oldest story will be backdated off the front page.

9: Writers are allowed to submit poems of any word length. The same guidelines of basic grammar and spelling also apply here.

10: Crossover stories are permitted. However, an author must have a complete Bonanza story in our Library before a crossover story may be posted. A one to one ratio between Bonanza/Bonanza Crossover must be maintained. No R rated crossover stories are permitted.

11: Any author wishing to publish a story in the Bonanza Brand Library must become a member of the Bonanza Brand Discussion Forums. As a forum member, a potential author must post a minimum of 100 times before being considered as an author in our Library. Once a member has reached the required 100 posts, they will be granted author status upon request, and be permitted to post stories in our fan fiction library, subject to approval by our Librarians. An exemption to this rule is given to those established authors invited to join the Bonanza Brand Library by the Brandsters or Librarians.

Our desire is to maintain a high-quality library where those who love Bonanza can enjoy a wide variety of stories. These guidelines are designed to provide readers and writers with the opportunity to share their passion for the Cartwrights and the other characters created by the vision of David Dortort. To this end, the Brandsters reserve the right to limit or remove stories which, in our discretion, are not consistent with this aim.

Thank you for your cooperation and enjoy the Library!
