My Place\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Sunlight on blue water,<\/strong><\/p>\n

Mist on shrouded hills,<\/strong><\/p>\n

This place of moving magic,<\/strong><\/p>\n

Instils my soul with peace.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

When I was just a young man,<\/strong><\/p>\n

My father brought me here,<\/strong><\/p>\n

Enchantment shifted on the lake,<\/strong><\/p>\n

And bound my essence tight.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Seven mighty wonders,<\/strong><\/p>\n

They say this world contains,<\/strong><\/p>\n

I guess I dreamed of most of them,<\/strong><\/p>\n

And been to see the rest.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Although I\u2019ve travelled far away,<\/strong><\/p>\n

I\u2019m summoned to return,<\/strong><\/p>\n

The wonders of this big wide world, <\/strong><\/p>\n

Can\u2019t beat this place called home.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

The mountains and the pasture lands,<\/strong><\/p>\n

The rivers, streams and hills,<\/strong><\/p>\n

Are intrinsic parts of me,<\/strong><\/p>\n

And ones I can\u2019t refuse.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

These lands, that are my father\u2019s,<\/strong><\/p>\n

And, one day, shall be mine,<\/strong><\/p>\n

Are bone, and blood, and tissue,<\/strong><\/p>\n

And rock, and root, and stone.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

My father and my brothers,<\/strong><\/p>\n

They know I love them, dear,<\/strong><\/p>\n

They to, are a part of me,<\/strong><\/p>\n

And serve to tie me here.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

The hours I work are long and hard,<\/strong><\/p>\n

The work I do is cruel,<\/strong><\/p>\n

I rope and tie, and cut and brand,<\/strong><\/p>\n

I\u2019ve always done my share.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

I dig and drive, and fell and ride,<\/strong><\/p>\n

My hands are ridged with scars,<\/strong><\/p>\n

My eyes are faded by the sun, <\/strong><\/p>\n

I\u2019ve shouted my voice hoarse.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

I\u2019ve never minded what I do,<\/strong><\/p>\n

To make this ranch work pay,<\/strong><\/p>\n

I\u2019ve shot, I\u2019ve killed for what is mine,<\/strong><\/p>\n

And I\u2019ll do it again today!<\/strong><\/p>\n

My shoulders broad, my belly flat,<\/strong><\/p>\n

My back is straight and strong,<\/strong><\/p>\n

I stand as tall as these great trees, <\/strong><\/p>\n

That march across the shore.<\/strong><\/p>\n

When, at last my strength departs,<\/strong><\/p>\n

My spirit goes to God,<\/strong><\/p>\n

Lay me low beneath this land,<\/strong><\/p>\n
