<\/p>\n
There once was School-boy Joe<\/p>\n
He was really the one to know<\/p>\n
School-boy Joe was liked by all the girls<\/p>\n
For his eyes shined like polished pearls<\/p>\n
He knew how to keep secrets \u201con the low\u201d<\/p>\n
And without Pa knowing, from school he would go<\/p>\n
School-boy Joe had the best hair because of his curls<\/p>\n
This, also, helped him draw in the girls<\/p>\n

He\u2019s one to have his heart on his sleeve<\/p>\n
From a fight he will never leave<\/p>\n
Who is he?<\/p>\n

Not that big, but not puny at all<\/p>\n
Never to crack when pushed up against a wall<\/p>\n
Who is he?<\/p>\n
It\u2019s Our Joe<\/p>\n
His curly hair and flashing, green eyes<\/p>\n
Are hard to leave when time to say your goodbyes<\/p>\n
No wonder we love him; it\u2019s Our Joe.<\/p>\n

This day was a day hotter than most<\/p>\n
Ev\u2019ryone wished they lived on the coast<\/p>\n
Except for the fair maidens of Virginia City<\/p>\n
They all hoped for a glimpse of Shirtless Joe<\/p>\n
And to see him they all knew where to go<\/p>\n
To the largest ranch around; The Ponderosa<\/p>\n
All of the young ladies flocked there<\/p>\n
Where Shirtless Joe worked with nary a care<\/p>\n
He took a brake to have a short swim<\/p>\n
Soon, the women crept up to the fence<\/p>\n
Of his shirtless-ness they hoped to catch a glimpse<\/p>\n
But to their surprise, all they did find<\/p>\n
was an old man taking a bath<\/p>\n
For Shirtless Joe had done the math<\/p>\n
and decided to work on chopping the wood<\/p>\n
For he\u2019d known the number of maidens<\/p>\n
so he sent the old man there bathin\u2019!<\/p>\n
Then, he worked shirtless-ly in peace.<\/p>\n

There once was a princess so fair<\/p>\n
with luscious locks of golden, blond hair<\/p>\n
Then, when out on the street<\/p>\n
guess whom did she meet<\/p>\n
But no other than Prince Joe Cartwright<\/p>\n
the one whose pants were extra tight<\/p>\n
He gave her a kiss<\/p>\n
that no one did miss<\/p>\n
and made all the dear women near swoon<\/p>\n
under the light of the bright, full moon<\/p>\n
He bent down on one knee<\/p>\n
and asked, \u201cWill you marry me, dear princess with golden, blond hair?\u201d<\/p>\n
Then, she did what no one would dare<\/p>\n
She slapped Prince Joe Cartwright<\/p>\n
then said for everyone to know,<\/p>\n
\u201dI will not marry such rubbishy as thee!<\/p>\n
For you smell of horse and cattle pee!\u201d<\/p>\n
Then, she left without any other words<\/p>\n
Ev\u2019ryone was silent, save for the birds<\/p>\n
Prince Joe stood there, for all he could do was stare<\/p>\n
at the retreating back of the princess with golden, blonde hair.<\/p>\n

There was a man both fictional and real<\/p>\n
If we were down, our hearts he would heal<\/p>\n
On TV he was Joe Cartwright<\/p>\n
and we had looked for episodes in which his pants were worn tight<\/p>\n
In real-life he was Michael Landon<\/p>\n
None of our hearts would he abandon<\/p>\n
When either went through pain<\/p>\n
none of us were to gain<\/p>\n
Both of them we loved more than a might<\/p>\n
In loving memory: Joe Cartwright<\/p>\n
We are sad, but we will not weep, for his life is done<\/p>\n
