Staying with Cheaux&#8217;s Bonanza Christmas lyrics, I used a phrase from Santa Got Lost in Texas and Oh, Fur Tree Dear.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Our gay apparel is now All tuckered out and bone tired weary<\/li>\n<li>A star shone down is now The twinkling lights<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>No Coffee<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The coffee pot was thrown with disgust to the rocks that surrounded the camp fire, the remaining liquid, as minute at it was, splattered into the fire making it hiss.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDoggone it, Pa! Hoss did it again! <strong>He drank till the pot was dry,<\/strong>\u201d Joe moaned.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAh, Joe, there was still some left,\u201d replied Hoss with a twinkle in his eye.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat? You think that a <strong>thimble full will do?<\/strong> Hel\u00a0.\u00a0.\u00a0.\u00a0er, heck no.\u201d Joe gave his father a sheepish look before continuing, \u201cWhy didn\u2019t you make another pot?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI figured that\u2019s what you\u2019re for, Little Brother,\u201d Hoss chuckled and took a sip from his full cup.<\/p>\n<p>Joe snatched the battered pot from the ground and stomped away; he could still be heard grumbling after he disappeared from sight.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHoss, you know you should have made the next pot,\u201d Ben chastised, trying to keep his lips from curving into a smile.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI know, Pa, but it sure was worth it to see the look on his face.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Shortly after Joe had set the pot of water on the fire Adam rode into camp. After taking care of his horse; he walked towards his family, brushing the trail dust from his pants with his hat.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ll tell you, I\u2019m <strong>all tuckered out and bone tired weary.<\/strong>\u201d The oldest Cartwright son sat down and reached for the coffee pot.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDon\u2019t even bother, Adam. Brother Hoss there, finished off the last pot and didn\u2019t see the need to make another,\u201d grumble Joe from where he laid against his saddle.<\/p>\n<p>Adam glared at Hoss, but all he got for his efforts was a shrug and a grin.<\/p>\n<p>Joe put his hands behind his head and gazed up at <strong>the<\/strong> <strong>twinkling lights<\/strong> that shone above the magnificent ponderosa pines.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSure is peaceful,\u201d he sighed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYes it is,\u201d agreed Ben also looking up.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith those always shining above a body\u2019ll <strong>never get lost again<\/strong>,\u201d Adam added.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNope, you sure won\u2019t.\u201d Joe reached for the coffee pot, but before his hand could even touch it, Hoss snatched it from the fire and refilled his cup.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAdam?\u201d Hoss held the pot towards his older brother and filled the cup that was held out towards him.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPa?\u201d Hoss offered, all the while watching, from the corner of his eye, his little brother glaring at him.<\/p>\n<p>Once he had filled Ben\u2019s cup, Hoss took a drink from his then topped it off before returning the pot to the fire.<\/p>\n<p>All eyes were on Joe as he grabbed the pot from the fire. In his anger he poured it a little too fast and ended up splashing the hot liquid on his hand. He immediately dropped the tin mug, splashing the hot contents on his thigh.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDamn it!\u201d he shouted jumping to his feet and dropping the coffee pot on the ground.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJoseph, watch your language,\u201d Ben scolded, all the while trying to hide not only his smile, but the laughter that was bubbling up inside.<\/p>\n<p>Joe clenched his teeth tightly together and without another word turned on his heels and stormed out of sight.<\/p>\n<p>No longer able to contain themselves, the three men left around the fire roared with laughter.
