And thus passing a rough exam,<\/p>\n

Who is the one I do prefer<\/p>\n

Is it this great actor, Pernell<\/p>\n

Or more the character, Adam\u00a0?<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

When you look like casting a spell<\/p>\n

And when your eyes flash with anger<\/p>\n

While your words hammer like a drum<\/p>\n

Do I watch your outburst, Pernell<\/p>\n

Or is it your fury, Adam ?<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

And when you look at a damsel<\/p>\n

So tenderly staring at her<\/p>\n

That she cannot resist your charm,<\/p>\n

Who is in love, is it Pernell<\/p>\n

Or Ponderosa\u2019s prince, Adam?<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

And speaking of your smile as well,<\/p>\n

This crooked grin on the corner<\/p>\n

Of your lips, while crossing your arms,<\/p>\n

You say \u201cpeasants\u201d, you are Pernell<\/p>\n

But also the impish Adam<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Riding, shooting, flying from jail,<\/p>\n

The actor serves the character<\/p>\n

Giving him flesh, giving him frame<\/p>\n

What did you keep for you, Pernell<\/p>\n

That could not claim handsome Adam ?<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

In my poor brain, like jingle bells<\/p>\n

Two names are sounding. Whatever<\/p>\n

Petty people did write, I am<\/p>\n

Sure that I admire you, Pernell<\/p>\n

But you\u2019re the one I love, Adam<\/p>\n

Chapter 2:<\/p>\n

“Journey remembered” inspired me this poem<\/em><\/p>\n

Western wind, adventure\u2019s wind, blows into my head<\/p>\n

It told me, young fellow Ben, go ahead<\/p>\n

Go boldly to wilderness, where the giant tree<\/p>\n

Taming sky and sun and stars, grow free<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Western wind filling my heart, took out my reason<\/p>\n

Commanded to leave my house with my son<\/p>\n

And to cross America, just to build my home<\/p>\n

A shelter for baby and his mom<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Western wind making me mad, though I was so wise<\/p>\n

In my ear whispered : your life has no price<\/p>\n

Retiring as a sailor, become a strider<\/p>\n

Find your place and become a rancher<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Western wind is hurricane, it blew me away,<\/p>\n

But I know that it will fall on the day<\/p>\n

When we will have reached the land, under the sunshine<\/p>\n

Designed land to be that land of mine<\/p>\n

Dating a young miss<\/p>\n

This so wanted kiss<\/p>\n

Oh, dear little Joe<\/p>\n

We\u2019ll never leave you<\/p>\n

Even if Michael is gone<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Oh, dear little Joe<\/p>\n

We can promise you<\/p>\n

You\u2019ll never walk alone<\/p>\n

Chapter 5:<\/p>\n

\n

Three years old Elisabeth Cartwright, Adam and Sylvie Cartwright\u2019s beloved daughter, definitely couldn\u2019t resign to going to bed. Sylvie had tried everything, gentleness, sternness, threats, promises, nothing could decide the child to stay in bed.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Sylvie was on the verge of flying off the handle when, at last, her husband came back home.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u201cWhat\u2019s happening\u00a0?\u201d, he asked his over-excited wife.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s Elisabeth. It\u2019s half past nine and she still doesn\u2019t sleep\u201d<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u201cPa, oh Pa, you weren\u2019t there, I hadn\u2019t my song.\u201d<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Adam frowned : \u201cWhat is this, Elisabeth? Why are you disobeying your mother? Do you think you\u2019re pleasing me doing so?\u201d<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The little girl immediately, burst in tears.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u201cWant my song, can\u2019t sleep without my song.\u201d<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u201cBut I sung you several songs!\u201d Sylvie argued.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s not the good one.\u201d<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Adam looked at his wife, over the child\u2019s head: \u201cNo time for severity\u201d, he said in French, \u201cI think I\u2019ll take her to her bed and find out about this famous song.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Sylvie didn\u2019t want anything else than to get rid off her daughter for the rest of the night. She nodded in agreement and let Adam lift the girl and walk upstairs.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Once in Elisabeth\u2019s bedroom and after laying her on her bed, Adam went to pick up his guitar and asked his daughter: \u201cNow, what song do you want?\u201d<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u201cLittle ho\u2019se.\u201d<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u201cThis one? But you always cry when I sing it.\u201d<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u201cLittle ho\u2019se, little ho\u2019se\u201d, she repeated.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u201cBut you\u2019ll not cry?\u201d<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u201cNo, Pa, no Pa, please sing little ho\u2019se.\u201d<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Adam sighed, took his guitar and started :<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u201cT\u2019was a little horse in the bad weather<\/em><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

How brave it was!<\/em><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Horse as white as a swan feather<\/em><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

All of them behind, little horse in front<\/em><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The buggy on the long road rolled and chased<\/em><\/p>\n

That was the way and the time it was pleased<\/em><\/p>\n

But on one day the weather was threatening<\/em><\/p>\n

My horse died under a flash of lightning<\/em><\/p>\n

While he was strumming the last bars away on his guitar, Adam stared at his daughter. She was shutting her eyes, her cheeks wet with tears. A few seconds after, she was full asleep.<\/p>\n

Adam went downstairs, chuckling and found a calmed down Sylvie waiting for him.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s amazing!\u201d, he said, \u201cseems that she likes to cry. Can you explain that?\u201d<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Sylvie smiled back at him: \u201cOh, very well, when I was a child, I liked to be scared and I liked to be moved.\u201d<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u201cAnd now you\u2019re grown up?\u201d<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Sylvie came next to her husband: \u201cI like to be cuddled and kissed.\u201d<\/p>\n

Chapter 6:<\/p>\n

\n

Behold them, riding cheerfully<\/p>\n


\n<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Them, handsome and merry young men<\/p>\n


\n<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

No fence, no gate, they run freely<\/p>\n


\n<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Three guys just dropped in their Eden.<\/p>\n


\n<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Just stare, my friend and say nothing !<\/p>\n


\n<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

To the wind and the burning sun<\/p>\n


\n<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Carelessly their face offering<\/p>\n


\n<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

They go laughing and having fun<\/p>\n


\n<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Fearing no beast, afraid of none<\/p>\n


\n<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Just happy in the wilderness,<\/p>\n


\n<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

With their brothers, never alone<\/p>\n


\n<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Forgetting worries and sadness<\/p>\n


\n<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

And us, poor girls, at them staring<\/p>\n


\n<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Making the travel in our mind<\/p>\n


\n<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Back in time, with them riding<\/p>\n


\n<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The lost Paradise there we find<\/p>\n

Chapter 7:<\/p>\n

Adam, Adam, Adam, the name in my heart sings<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Brilliant, the man so called, handsome and brave also<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Clear and bright are his eyes, his kindness revealing<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Deep is the voice I am never tired of hearing<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Adam, Adam Cartwright, Adam I love you so<\/p>\n
