Young Billy Wilcox wanders onto the Ponderosa, sick, hungry, and alone. Ben finds him and offers him a job on the Ponderosa. Billy shows concern about a lawman that has come Virginia City because he has a past that could be a problem: he killed a man in self-defense and left town.
