Nicely written as always, Krystyna.  I think poor Joe has had ever illness known to man and not a scar on that beautiful body.  It’s amazing!  Great job!
Author’s Response: Hi jfc, oh you are so right… a miracle in the making is that lad! Thank you for reading the story and for leaving me a review, much appreciated indeed. Krystyna

Great little story.  Joe’s interaction with the doctor showed how he was raised by his pa.  Hope someday the Cartwrights meet up with Joshua and Dorothea again.

Author’s Response: Thank you so much Chavel47, really pleased that you enjoyed this story and liked Joshua and Dorothea. I’m sure they will meet up again some time in another story. Krystyna

This story reminds me of the bless of modern technology and human rights. Appendix today isn’t as dangerous as back in time and doctors with an other skin color is normal at least for me. Thanx for the story. JoeC

Author’s Response: Thank you so much JoeC. Doesn’t it show how much we have progressed? I can’t bear to think of the prejudice and hatreds of past times, even though sadly it does still exist, such a shame when it rears its ugly head in our lives. Krystyna

You started out setting such a beautiful scene with the stars and the owl and then moved into this wonderful story of Joshua and Dorothea.  I hope it’s not the last we’ll hear of them.

  1. Krystyna,

Your writings are beautifully penned with very vivid word pictures. Prejudice and racial animosity are cancers upon any society as we are all one human family! I love how you highlighted that through the lens of the Cartwright Family. Thank you for this lovely story!

    1. Rosalyn, thank you so much for your lovely comment on this story, and I am really glad you enjoyed it so much. There is no room for prejudice of any kind, and sadly this world seems more and more divided due to this…people talk about peace and love, but actions at the moment seem totally in contradiction to that…what would the Cartwrights make of this world today??? But then they lived during times of the war between states…oh dear, what a world!!

  2. Another really good story from you! I’ve re-read this one a few times and thought I’d comment this time. I really enjoy your writing; you paint very vivid pictures with your words, making the tale come to life.
I can only imagine the trials the Dr and his wife would have faced in those days. Seems like it was to everyone’s benefit that they and Joe ended up in the same place at just the right time.

    1. Many thanks for such a lovely compliment, Jenny. I really appreciated it, and so very glad that you enjoyed this story because it was one that I felt quite strongly about. Prejudice is so hateful, and I really wanted to show how important it is to see the person, rather than the colour or nationality, just the person and appreciate him/her for their own attributes. And of course, for Joe, how it was life saving.

  3. Enjoyed your story. Amazing how quickly things can turn and death may be found around the corner. Loved your doctor and his wife and their triumph. Thanks!

    1. Thank you so much, McFair … And thank you for not disclosing the secret contained within the story. I’m glad you enjoyed it . we take so much for granted but as Joe found out, things can change dramatically swiftly.
