Author’s Response:Thank you so much, Cheaux.  South Louisiana Christmases are almost magical with the bonfires burning bright along the levee.  I’m honored to know this story will be read many times.

I'm a historical archaeologist who loves westerns and Bonanza is my favorite. I wrote my first Bonanza story in 2006 and the plot bunnies are still hopping. The majority of my stories include the entire family and many are prequels set during the period when Ben and Marie were married.

  1. I loved this glimpse into life with Marie in the house and her influence on the family’s traditions. Adam was wonderful and the wagon was a fun touch. The history lesson was great too as I love seeing how people celebrate Christmas in different ways. Thank you!

  2. A wonderful story! I’m impressed with the research you did and the way you incorporated it into the story. Carl rang true to his character – jealous of others without considering their hard work and the risks they took to earn their wealth. Adam’s care for Joe was sweet and reminded me of the care one of my friends took of her much younger brother. Thank you for posting it.
