I'm a historical archaeologist who loves westerns and Bonanza is my favorite. I wrote my first Bonanza story in 2006 and the plot bunnies are still hopping. The majority of my stories include the entire family and many are prequels set during the period when Ben and Marie were married.

  1. Hee! This was great! And I loved the twist at them end, it made it all fall into place. I can see why Pa and the boys might have been s little worried about him, though … ?

    Thanks for writing!

  2. That’s the best “bad first line” I’ve ever read. 😉 I had to read this story after you posted your excerpt in the favorites thread. Your depictions of the unflappable poker players had me chuckling throughout, especially the image of Newt dousing a flaming arrow with a well-aimed spew of tobacco juice! Wonder what Adam knows that Joe doesn’t? Thanks for the laugh, Patina. 🙂
