Ponderosa Yuletide Wit

 

The Ponderosa shone with winter’s cheer,

Snowflakes whispered that Christmas was near.

Yet brighter than the firelight set,

He was one of the wittiest men I have met.

Hoss brought laughter, hearty and wide,

Joe spun tricks with mischief to hide.

Ben spoke wisdom, calm and wise,

But Adam’s wit stole every prize.

His words could turn the cold to flame,

A clever jest, a timeless game.

No carol sung, no starry sky,

Could match his wit that soared so high.

At Christmas feasts, with voices strong,

Adam’s quips became the song.

Like carols sung through frosty air,

His wit was joy beyond compare.

A single line, a playful tease,

Could warm the coldest winter breeze.

He’d twist a phrase with clever might,

Turning silence into sudden light.

The stockings hung, the tree stood tall,

Yet Adam’s wit outshone them all.

A gift of mind, so quick, so rare,

A spark of joy beyond compare.

So raise a toast to wit’s delight,

The Cartwright star on Christmas night.

For Adam’s tongue, both sharp and kind,

Was the greatest gift one could find.
