What is w.i.p. format please? Thank you!
Author’s Response: Hi Chavel47 … W.I.P is when a story is posted on a website as a work in progress. What I do is post a chapter – mostly each or every other day – on the website or I email the chapter to those regular readers of the series that I have who are not on any website since Bonanzaworld closed down. This means they can read the chapter, review it and oftentimes in their reviews they say what they like, what they would like to see happen next and I try to take on board all they say and incorporate it into the story. For example in Duty after Olivia miscarried the baby so many were upset and saying how they wanted Adam to have a child of his own that I turned it to how it ended … next story I daresay there will be a debate on what the baby will be, but I enjoy incorporating the readers opinions, it makes the story theirs as well as mine. Once the story is completed then I post the whole story in the library here or where I have been posting it as the w.i.p .. thank you for your interest, Chavel47. Regards Krystyna

Oh my,….after all that Adam endured over the past few years, it feels so good to have him experience some true happiness. I love it that all the boys are now experiencing true love since they all have gone through heartaches.
I loved the twist of Marcy’s brother and Adam knowing each other. And, the positive way that Barbara and John left the area. And, Su Ling and Jimmy became part of Virginia City.
Looking forward to finding out more about Luke and Marcy, too.
Author’s Response: Chavel47: what a lovely surprise to find this review here, thank you so much for reading this story and enjoying it so much. As with all the CC stories it is posted in w.i.p format first so the end result is a based a lot on what the readers opinions, hints, suggestions and desires were during the course of its writing, so it is thanks to them also that it got written at all. If you are interested in Marcy and Luke you will enjoy the next sequel… 😉 It’s fascinating to see how much O.C’s can grab the readers interests as much as the canon characters, I think that is just great as I grow to care about them myself in the course of writing. Thank you once again…Krystyna

Can any more ‘family relations’ come out of the woodwork? Just when we see the slightest hope of ‘normalcy’, our stomachs drop as another disaster/tragedy strikes.
The ending (as well as the whole story) was extremely satisfying and one can only hope that life will peacefully continue on the Ponderosa.
Krystyna, this story is truly a masterpiece of love for your Captain Cartwright series.
Author’s Response: Thank you so much, BluewindFarm, this is just such a lovely complimentary review for this story and yes, it was a real love story in every sense of the word. Someone once said you have to have disasters in a story to enjoy the high points in it, but hopefully things will slip into a better …mmmm….well, best not committ myself to anything here l.o.l as anything can happen in these stories. Thank you so much, Deanne. Krystyna

  1. Hi PSW, thank you for such a heart warming review for this story…I always feel I should apologise for the amount of SAS in it, but hey, it needed to be done.

Very, very pleased that you enjoyed the big event at the end. Oddly enough I still love Hester the best too. I really enjoy reading and re-reading the way she and Hoss got together…they ‘belong’ and still do even after all these years.

Adam is a clam when it suits him, and that is one of the annoying things about him, everything has to be done at his speed. Perhaps it is because he doesn’t trust himself, and his emotions, enough and needs to wait until they are more under control. And yes, everything worked out very well in the end. I don’t think I put him through quite such a wretched time in any other story. In fact, several readers have recently complained at the lack of SAS in the last few. Well, guess something will have to be done about that…

I do hope you enjoy the continuing story…and many, many thanks for your review.

  2. So much to say about this story … and yet I’ve been on vacation, so my brain has jumbled it all together and I’m having a bit of trouble sorting it all out … 🙂

First of all, of course, loved the big event at the end. I think Adam’s got both his happiness and his work cut out for him. Love Olivia … but I still love Hester the best, and am happy that my boy Hoss managed to snag her. 😉

Must say that Adam took less time to begin opening up about the things he had been through than I expected (though he did, Adam-like, manage to drag it all painfully out). I will say that I wasn’t sure what to think about Joe’s insistence that Adam tell the whole lot of them at once. Of course the girls will need to know, and of course Hoss and Joe would tell them. But the fact is that Adam just doesn’t know them very well (at least at the beginning) … and as a private person to begin with, it might have been really uncomfortable for him to talk about these things with (relative) strangers, no matter that they’re now part of the family. Anyhoo, that didn’t really turn into an issue, thankfully.

I loved Adam’s attention to children, whenever they appeared — he was always very patient with them. I was somewhat annoyed with his insistence on keeping his developing relationship sooo secret, even to the point of shutting down a little teasing from Hoss. Come on, dude! There’s been nothing but gloom and doom surrounding you for weeks now — your family needs something lighthearted to think about where you’re concerned …

But, despite some (rather large hiccups) along the way, glad to see that everything worked out. Enjoyed your new characters, both OC and canon. Another fine story. 🙂 I’m already partially into the next one … Thanks as always for writing!

  3. This was a fantastic story. I can see how Carpe Diem and A New Command fit so well together. It was healing and the wedding was breathtaking (in more ways than one). I’d been waiting for that ending since he met Olivia in the park. It’s fun to have some of the “old friends” drift in for a visit. I love to see a longer visit with Laurence and Rachel to find out what they are up to. (I know, I know the other stories have already been written but one can hope?). What I wouldn’t have given to see the Admiral’s face when he got word on Tau Peng’s fate, after what Adam had nearly “prophesied”. I’m glad Adam finally gets to stay home, recover and enjoy his family (small and big). He has needed that for a long time. Moving on now to see how he adjusts to married life and to see what Ben will do now with this new chapter in his life.

    1. I am so very pleased that you enjoyed this story, Ac1830. I loved writing it and suffered along with Adam, and the family as well as Olivia. There are a lot of threads interwoven in the story but thankfully they all seemed to come together and you liked it and that is the important thing. Thank you for enjoying this love story …with all the angst that goes with it!

  4. Thank you for letting me know, Debbie. Have to admit this was one of those stories that I nevervwanted to stop writing, there just seemed to be so many threads to pick up,weave in and spin out! Glad you enjoyed the series..
