What an amazing story full of worry and adventure and all about a loving family, and Adam as a father is the best part of if all, and a brilliant one at that even as a step parent he has the right idea with the children’s upbringing, and he and Livvy are well matched it is like they have been together always, he avoided the danger that he knew was coming as only a Cartwright can, fantastic from start to finish, Sofia has really come out of her shell now too and they haven had to deal with her, but I think that is also her growing up a bit more and testing the boundaries, which I am sure she will continue to do, I would so love to see a sequel to this now as it needs to continue to see how they get on as a blended family and if there are any more children to look forward to and the Christmases with all the families together and what the children get up to, just like the boys did years before them, there is so much room for that so Pleeease a sequel to this, I want to see how Sofia gets on at school and more about her testing them out as parents.

Author’s Response: Thank you for such a lovely review, Weaver. I’ve just started the sequel, so hope that it won’t be too long before I can start posting it here. Sofia is growing isn’t she .. and I’m sure there will be many more adventures with her. I’m really so pleased that you’re enjoying the stories, Weaver. Krystyna

This will not be a disappointment to readers of the Commodore stories.  The various plots keeps one on the edge of the seat.  Cheng Ho Lee’s part is a surprise, and the ending is very satisfying with the reasons for the naming.

Thank you for another great adventure.

Author’s Response: Chavel47: Oh that is lovely, thank you so much. I thought readers would enjoy having an insight into Cheng Ho Lee and it wove in so well with the rest of the series, thanks again for all your lovely words which were so encouraging. Krystyna

A wonderful continuation of the Commodore and his family.  Well worthy of the time to curl up and read.  Masterfully crafted, with suspense and revelations.  The story as it should have been told from the beginning (before Pernell chose to leave).

Author’s Response: BluewindFarm: I so appreciate that you have taken time to read and review this story, Deanne. Thank you so much. I am very, very grateful to you indeed for all your encouragement in continuing to write this series. Thanks again. Krystyna

OMG I am only on chapter 36, but I had to let you know how wonderfully immersed I am in this story with so many twists and turns.  It is taking all of my will power to put this down and get on with work etc.  At 4 in the morning I woke up and read about a half hour before heading back to bed.  So, anyone who is reading the review before the story, go ahead and dive in.

Author’s Response: I’m really flattered, Chavel47, and I do hope that the rest of the story will be just as interesting for you. Do enjoy! Many thanks for the lovely compliment as well, I am so glad you have enjoyed this series of stories so much. Krystyna

  1. So, somehow I didn’t comment on this when I read it several months back — which was a terrible oversight, as it definitely deserves a comment like all the others. Please forgive my lack of specifics, therefore, and know that I will be back on track with the next one … 😉

I do remember some pretty major losses here — and one especially I kept hoping to the end was a miscommunication, but I guess not. 🙁 *sigh* I was more upset by this than I suspect one should be over a fictional OC …

Also, good for Adam and Olivia, happy to see their family growing. Happy to see everyone’s families growing and settling, of course — is what one could have hoped for them, rather than the perpetual (and rather crushing) bachelorhood of the show. It’s nice to be able to imagine this alternate future for them.

Thanks so much as always for your hard work in writing another such detailed story. I will look forward to the final Captain Cartwright installment before he’s home (from the sea, at least) for good …

  2. I truly enjoyed this new mission of Adam’s – the stay at home husband and father. Of course not everything goes according to plan when you’re a Cartwright. The Commodore still had his assignments and *sigh* somehow they kept finding him for little jobs. I enjoyed the way you brought in so many of his friends from the past – good and bad. Dmitri especially, one never knew just when and where he would show up. You tied up many loose ends, but I have to say the one with O’Brien was totally unexpected. Sometimes I still reel from it. These people are like family now (even the baddies) and when something happens to them, good or bad, the reader feels it. Adam still had his close calls, and the scenes with Lebedev were well written. Whew!

It was great to see Adam as a family man at last. I truly enjoyed all his interactions with the children and Olivia. Reuben and Sophia are settling in quite well, though Sophia’s “Daddy” problem was quite interesting. Adam handled it very well. The interactions you write with all the family are wonderful. I feel I’m a part of all of that big family.

I’m looking forward to the final story, wondering what adventures await Adam and hoping he can finally retire. But it will be with a wistful heart as these adventures come to an end. It is a world I have grown very accustomed to.

    1. What a great review for this story…yes, the whole situation with O.Brien was really tragic and sometimes I wish it could be proven to be a mistake, but then lots of things happening real life and it is how we handle them that make us the people we are…Adam thankfully now has a loving wife and family, that is a blessing for him at last. Oh to be honest I do miss writing my Adam at sea stories, but as I was trying to keep things realistic time was passing and he was getting older …sigh … Hope you really enjoy the last in this series and many thanks for such kind words, AC1830
