Word Count: 202

I saw her again

—My first love—

In a pair of eager hands:

So tiny,

So fragile,

Clinging tightly to my own.

*

I saw her again

—My second love—

In a pair of innocent eyes:

So trusting,

So blue,

Bluer than the cerulean skies.

*

I saw her again

—My third love—

In a pair of little feet:

Always running,

Always moving,

Always following after me.

*

I saw her again

—My Elizabeth—

In a very studious boy:

Always reading,

Always learning,

Always seeking for the truth.

*

I saw her again

—My Inger—

In a boy’s gentle arms:

So careful,

So tender,

Nurturing animals and man.

*

I saw her again

—My Marie—

In a very angry boy:

Eyes blazing,

Fists clenching,

Brow thunderous with wrath.

*

I see them again

—My three loves—

In the faces of our sons:

Hard working,

Every loving,

Always doing what is right.

*

I see them again

—My three wives—

In the sons they gave to me:

All different,

All special,

Part of them and part of me.

*

I’ll see them again

—My three loves—

God willing, let it be:

In small boys,

And small girls,

Grandchildren yet to be.
