I Like Dreamin’

When this cold callous world leaves me bruised with heartache

And memories of abuse leave me feeling like tarnished silver…

When my mental upheaval turns me into a shoreless lake

And from my soulful eyes a currency of tears stream a river…

All I need to do is lay myself down under the starry blanket of Night,

My gaze lingers on Adam’s picture by my bedside, my heart’s hero,

I know as sleep claims me once again with my true family I’ll reunite,

I welcome a host of dreams to share my pillow.

I like dreamin’…

About a ranch called the Ponderosa standing strong under a Sunset

Where Ben will warmly welcome me as a friend fresh off the trail,

I will not be rejected-not by Ben-under his care I feel like a rosette,

Finally my heart is allowed to quench its thirst on the purest friendship ale.

He will show me his land that he worked so hard to own, his pride

Shines in every herd of cattle, and horses, so many horses I see,

I could ride for days and never come to the end of this vast countryside,

Ben’s hospitality warms me as he teaches me the names of every tree.

For so long rejected by my own blood family, my heart had an unquenchable thirst

To know what acceptance was-and love-I could only find in my hours as a dreamer

When my slumbers took me to find what I couldn’t while awake, reality bursts

As I arrive at the door of the Cartwrights, my true family in every demeaner.

Little Joe will show me the color of the air they breathe, at last I realize

I have a friend in him, and Hoss will teach me the worth of country leisure,

The wide expanse of their friendship grows bigger with the Sunrise,

Their company gilds me with brotherly care, I never knew a greater treasure.

But it was with Adam that my heart started to beat a new tune,

Always the perfect gentleman he showed me that I was good enough

As I was, he helped me with my chair at dinner-not too soon

As I suddenly felt faint, never before had I been shown such love.

When Adam serenaded me by Moonlight his voice was a dear caress

Upon my bruised soul, there was no doubt that he was my knight,

His eyes-with just one look-complimented the curves of my dress,

I knew I would never be the same again as I felt myself ignite.

They made me a part of their family this proud Cartwright clan,

Every night when I depart this indifferent world and escape into my head

I find refuge in familiar dreams that wear the loyal Cartwright brand,

“I’m not alone anymore”, their bonanza of love to me has said.

It’s true, never stop believing

…that I like dreamin’.

Though I am a fairIy new Bonanza fan, I have always loved old TV programs and actually feel like I have been born in the wrong century. Since discovering the wonderful world of Bonanza and the loving hearts of the Cartwrights, I have fallen hopelessly in love with Adam...(like seriously, Adam is all I think about day and night). I live alone with a menagerie of snakes, geckos, and a bunny. I love reading, writing poetry, writing erotic poetry about Adam, writing stories about Adam, baking, gardening and raising butterflies, watching old TV shows, and having fantasies about Adam. Does anyone notice a theme here...?

    1. Thank-you Ponderosa Pines! Yes, most definitely, those older shows definitely have something that these newer shows lack. They don’t call those classic days of Television “the golden era” for nothing. There is nothing in these newer shows that I watch, my favorite TV viewing spans from the 1950’s to the 90’s. I love those shows like Bonanza and others that give me a sense of family sticking together and love above all.

    1. Thank-you AC1830! 🙂 Yes, for me too, Adam is my ultimate dream man, and the Cartwrights all together my ideal family.
In October 2022, I bought the lifesize standup cardboard cutout of Adam Cartwright! 🙂 I have him in my bedroom…he watches over me as I sleep…and dream of him.

  1. Beau poème, l’amour sous toute ses formes, monde des Cartwright, rèverie sous les étoiles . . .
Il ne reste plus qu’à désirer un hologramme dans sa chambre ! Mdr.
