My Pa

 

The wisdom of years,
Yet the heart of a child.
Ferocious in fury,
Yet tender and mild.

Stubborn in purpose,
With a listening heart
He’s there to the finish,
As he was from the start.

Ever my comfort,
My rock-solid strength.
To guide or protect me,
Go whatever length.

As a child, I beheld him
In wonder and awe,
And that’s still how I feel
‘Bout my wonderful Pa.

I discovered Bonanza as a young girl in its first run and have been a faithful fan ever since. Wondering if the Cartwright saga could fit into the real history of the area, I did some research and wrote a one-volume prequel, simply for my own enjoyment. That experience made me love writing, and I subsequently wrote and published in the religious genre. Years later, having run across some professional Bonanza fanfiction, I gobbled up all there was and, wanting more, decided I'd have to write it myself. I decided to rewrite that one-volume Cartwright history, expanding it to become the Heritage of Honor series and developing a near-mania for historical research. Then I discovered the Internet and found I wasn't alone, for there were many other stories by fine writers in libraries like this one. I hope that you'll enjoy mine when I post them here.

Puchi I know I commented back in August but when this came up under suggested story I had to read again and tell you how it so amazes me that you can capture so much in so few words and when I think of “Pa” it is exactly what your words convey. I know I am trying to read as time allows but one thing is for sure and that is everything you put your heart in comes out memorable to us readers. Thank you for sharing your talent throughout the years, it has meant a lot to all of us.

  6. “PA” la force de la famille, dur comme un roc mais le coeur tendre, réservoir d’amour pour ses fils et ses épouses. Une très belle description de Ben. Personellement je ressent Adam dans la troisième strophe.
