It’s a cute scene that nicely reflects their relationship.Just too bad Andres Segovia wasn’t around back then – he had large hands and big fingers and went on to become one of the greatest guitarists nonetheless.Author’s Response: Thank you, Crow. I’m pleased to know you enjoyed this little story.*

Sometimes it’s the little lessons that teach us the most. Glad you enjoyed this little story.*

They are so good with each other, and so good for each other.Thank you so much for this wonderful little portrait of two very close men. It’s so subtle and so…perfect. Just lovely!Author’s Response: Thank you, faust. Adam and Hoss always play off each other so well, don’t they? I’m glad to know you enjoyed this little story.*

HelgaAuthor’s Response: Wow, JoeC! My first (and last) guitar lesson was in 1991. Curling my wrist to stretch my fingers around the guitar’s neck was too uncomfortable for me to continue. Thank you so much for letting me know you enjoyed this little story.*

Date: 01 Jan 2013 12:23 am Title: Broken Chords THANK YOU! “Woman of fire” was always one of my favorite episodes, except for that fact that Hoss wound up the one inside the guitar when it really wasn’t his fault. I knew it must have hurt his feelings, even though we didn’t see that in the episode. Now I can enjoy even that part of the episode to the fullest, knowing that Adam will show Hoss that his fingers aren’t too big at all. What a perceptive and touching glimpse into both brothers, and the bond between them!Author’s Response: Thank YOU, sk! Hoss seemed eager to learn but Margarita didn’t have the patience to teach. I’m so pleased to know you enjoyed this little story.

I'm a historical archaeologist who loves westerns and Bonanza is my favorite. I wrote my first Bonanza story in 2006 and the plot bunnies are still hopping. The majority of my stories include the entire family and many are prequels set during the period when Ben and Marie were married.

  1. as a guitar player, I fell in love with this story. Humour and tenderness, great mix for a great story. I could picture both brothers during that unique moment. Thanks

    1. Thank you, mumu. I’ve only had one guitar lesson and it didn’t go well–I still can’t play one (lol). I’m so glad to know you enjoyed this story.
