Author’s Response:Sibylle, I agree, one does want to read sweet stories at Christmastime. NO lumps of coal within this story. Thank you for reviewing.

What a GREAT story, bwf.
I love this line:
With the lateness of the hour, Ben escorted his sons to their bedrooms and tucked them in. He wondered what his newest son would bring; how would the newest Cartwright compliment the intelligence of Adam and the nature loving boy in Hoss?
Author’s Response:Pat, I’m glad the statement rang true for you. I believe that every parent wonders how their newest child will fit in with their older siblings. Thank you for taking the time to read and leave your review. Reviews make writing even better; by knowing that the reader cared enough to let you know that you’ve somehow ‘moved’ them. Thank you!
Author’s Response:Puchi Ann, Thank you. I was listening to the radio this past weekend when I heard Carrie Underwood’s rendition of ‘Do You Hear What I Hear?” and in my mind it was the Night Wind speaking to a young Hoss, not the lamb… and so my story was born. I’m glad you enjoyed.

This is just exquisite, Bluewind! I love your revised rendition of the carol, and the way it blends into the scenes of your story. Your Hoss and Adam are wonderful little boys, and I love Adam’s mature hope that both mother and child are safe. I had to smile at Ben remembering his father’s warning: hoo boy, was that ever prophetic! 😀
Author’s Response:
JoaniePaiute, thank you for reading and leaving a review. I’m glad you enjoyed this story; as I do believe many a man receives that same dire warning from their own father.

Loved this unique story! You captured each characters thoughts and emotions perfectly!
This is such a happy event. Mother and child doing well is a wonderful blessing as many women died during childbirth.
Very beautiful story. Little baby Joe will grow to find that he has the best big brothers in the world.
That was really lovely. I could sense Adam’s fears and Hoss’s eagerness. I wonder what they would have thought of a sister?
Questfan, hmmm… Little Josephine? I don’t think so! 😆
Thank you for reading and for taking a moment to leave a comment. It is appreciated.
What a beautiful story and one of my favorite christmas songs.
Lovely
Joesgal, thank you so much for reading and commenting. It was a fun story to work into the Christmas song.
