A dressage rider who's a cowgirl at heart. I wasn't old enough during the heyday of Westerns on TV. However, with the introduction of cable and satellite services in the 1980's, I fell in love with Bonanza, Lancer, The Big Valley, The Rifleman, and The Wild, Wild West, among others. Through syndication and fanfiction; our heroes will live on forever. I hope you enjoy the stories I've written, and I look forward to reading your comments.

  1. Loved this story! It was sort of a familiar feeling to me, since I’ve been through that fear myself. The only thing I’ve ever REALLY cared about in life was riding but given my family’s genes, I guess it was no surprise when panic attacks started in on me. Sadly, the first thing they affected was my ability to ride. It got so if I even thought about riding I’d start freaking out. It was a very dark time for me since there was nothing anything else I cared about doing! Unfortunately, there had been no actual “trigger” so it wasn’t a matter of “working through” some experience. I didn’t/couldn’t ride my horses for several years. I finally let the Dr prescribe anti-anxiety meds and it was a big help. (Although I DESPISE the fact that I have to take them!!) I still get nervous at unexpected times, but nowhere near like it was.

But I digress… I really enjoyed your story; it was well-written and engaging! This’ll make you laugh but I also enjoyed the fact that you used the parts of the horse correctly, LOL! I’ve seen a few stories where they mention “kicking the horse in the flanks” to get him moving and, in one memorable story, the rider “kicked the horse in the withers!”

    1. Hi Hope, thank you for reading, and These brothers are always great, aren’t they!

    1. Hi Hope: thank you for reading, and yes, Joe was lucky to have such a family, and as viewers, we were lucky that David Dortort shared them with us.

    1. PT, I’m glad this version worked for you. In the beginning I had no idea that this story would take that route; it just happened. Thank you for taking the time to read and for leaving a comment. 🙂

    1. Questfan, thank you so very much. It’s always nice to know that a story has kept the reader’s interest enough to read the sequels.

    1. Juanita, I’m sorry to have upset and worried you, but you must have known that family would always be there. 🙂 Thank you for taking the time to read and leave a comment.

  2. I loved this heartfelt piece! Though I comment on many stories I always try to say something special about each one and for this one I want to say that I particularly loved the the part when Adam slipped behind Joe in bed so he could hold him–what a tender moment! And also I loved when they laughed so hard when Little Joe was ”back”, it reminded me of the corral scene on the ”Showdown” episode when Joe got bucked off the horse after calling his brothers ”ladies”!! I loved the sequel too, especially the part when Adam told Pa that he needed to hone his hiding skills!!! Great job!!

    1. Miss Kitty, I appreciate that you do comment on the stories; authors enjoy hearing feedback from the readers. Glad to know that several of the scenes struck such a chord during your reading.

    1. Freyakendra,

Thank you for taking the time to read my story and leave a review. This was my first original Bonanza story, the second story I wrote and posted in the Old Library.

Yes, the situation went from bad to worse. And you have to face it, those brothers knew how to take care of each other.
