Yes, yes, I realize Joe’s victory wasn’t really Hoss’s fault, but Hoss is big enough, in every sense of the word, to absorb what Adam has to vent, and he did hand Joe the opportunity on a silver platter when he gambled away the original stake. And it’s also fun to see Joe’s machinations come out on top for once–not so much because he does win that race “fair and square” but because he finds the perfect “forever home” for the “hayburner” himself, unlike those who’re just planning to win a packet using the horse and then discard him again….An amusing sidelight on one of my favorite episodes–thank you very much!*

I especially liked Adam’s walk back when he noticed all of his belongings in the street–especially the scabbard. I could just see that scene in real life. And I REALLY liked the last line!*

I suppose Adam felt Hoss deserved what he got and, in the scheme of things, I guess it wasn’t too bad. And I reckon that is probably how men in those days would settle their differences, but I still felt a bit sorry for Hoss. He does try to be fair to all, doesn’t he?
Good way to end the episode, though
Little Joe forever

That was a fun story … nicely finished off that episode! Thanks so much.
Yep, I would have done what Adam did, as well. Hoss deserved his comeuppance! 😅
Sometimes you just have to get that frustration out and then you’re back to normal. Poor Hoss was just the last straw for Adam. I’m glad he wasn’t too hard on Hoss.
I love Hoss but he sorta had it coming, didn’t he? A fitting follow up to one of my favorite episodes. You write Hoss so well, Patina. 🙂
nice little story, with some love taps from brother to brother.
Poor Hoss… buut he kinda had that pounding coming!
LOL, Beej! Adam certainly felt betrayed by Hoss’s double-cross. If only the cameras had rolled a few minutes longer…
